Why I Launched PCOS.com
First, thank you for taking the time to read why I felt it was essential to launch PCOS.com.
A Personal Mission
This mission is deeply personal. I have close friends and family members who have endured incredible heartbreak in their journey to conceive. Some have gone through more than a dozen rounds of IVF – only to face the devastating reality of still being unable to carry a pregnancy to term.
My Health Journey with GLP-1 Medications
In 2023, my own health journey unexpectedly intersected with the power of GLP-1 medications. When I was 23 I was diagnosed with achalasia, a condition that makes eating and drinking difficult because food and liquid become trapped in the esophagus. For almost 20 years, my achalasia episodes made enjoying meals impossible, and eating three times a day felt like a chore. After and lot of research and consulting my doctors, I began a micro-dose of a GLP-1.
Life-Changing Results
The results have been just shy of miraculous. While my achalasia hasn’t completely disappeared, my episodes have decreased by about 95%. Today, I can actually enjoy food again—and live life without the constant fear of the next random episode.
GLP-1s and PCOS
My experience isn’t unique. Across healthcare, many prescribers have observed remarkable results when patients take custom or micro-doses of GLP-1 medications for off-label uses. For women with PCOS who had struggled for years with infertility, GLP-1s have in some cases made it possible not only to conceive, but to carry a healthy pregnancy to term. Dietitians who once relied on metformin have turned to GLP-1 therapy because it often works where other treatments fail.
Barriers to Access
But here’s the problem: insurance carriers often refuse to cover brand GLP-1 medications for off-label use, and big pharmaceutical companies actively work to block wider access. Why? Because there’s more money to be made by tweaking existing drugs and marketing them as new, high-priced specialty medications. Additionally these drugs could take years to reach the market and unlike existing GLP-1’s, the safety of them is unknown.
The Need for Solutions Now
Meanwhile, women are suffering now. A real potential solution is here today. And yet, barriers are being built to protect big Pharma’s future profits.
The Purpose of PCOS.com
PCOS.com exists as an answer to those barriers. We’re here to give women access to trusted information, connect them with qualified professionals, and help them explore whether a GLP-1 could be a safe, effective option for their PCOS or infertility – without interference from big pharma or big insurance.
Empowering Your Health Choices
We can’t promise that a GLP-1 will be the right path for you. But we believe you deserve to make that decision yourself, with guidance from medical experts who are free to put your health first.
